One of some beautiful innovation for me in IoT is Smart Lamp that has been very booming nowadays. The features are of the past lamp and smart lamp is list below:

The features of non-IoT lamp :
1. On and off switch

The features of IoT Lamp / Smart Lamp :
1. On and off itself or from our voice, our existence, or even from wherever we are using our device
2. Adjust the brightness of lamp
3. Adjust the color of lamp
4. Change the direction of the lamp’s light

In the past, lamp was just a tools that give brightness for us to keep in touch with our activity especially in evening or it was cloudy out there, but lamp itself was very great innovations that bring so much benefit for most people in that era. Today, thanks with IoT and another development of technology, we could get so much improvement of this innovation that was very helpful to make our life easier than before. We can turn on and off the lamp with just say “Turn on/off the light please”, or just enter the room that the lamp has sensor of our existence, or even with our device. We can also adjust the brightness, the color and the direction of our lamp with just our voice or even on our device. So overall the functionality of lamp as the time goes by and as technology advances is more useful than before.

Improvements :
1. Sensor of existence
2. More lumens for about 300–1000 lumens / lamp
3. IoT computational machine to support changing color, modes and brightness of lamp
4. Internet network to support devices remoting control
5. Lots of saving energy even when they are turned off it can be said that they’re still in on mode because for example it is connecting to Wi-Fi
6. Lots of saving energy because it is using LED Light Bulbs

Diminishments :
1. They can be difficult to control because we need to have some type of hub and for the best control we have to make the kind of our lamp as one type. Comparing to the non-IoT lamp, we can just use different kind and type of lamp because we can control them with only a switch.
2. They often break because of their complexity.
3. We can taking up more time to set up our mood of light and end up micro-managing them.
4. We need to be tech savvy to hold these kind of lamp or even another booming technology.
5. We can’t easily take it with us if conditionally we have to move our home.

Actually at first, I thought there was such a little privacy issues among this kind of technology, but I was shocked to read some news told us that smart light can lead hackers to do their activities like tracking people moves because smart light means it knows where you are either inside or outside your home for example. It also could lead hackers to take control of the llight bulbs and infect them with undirectly access just with one bulb like computer worm to spread malicious software that we usually called malware. And at last, because smart light are connected to the network like Wi-Fi or bluetooth and also with sound sensor, hackers could easily take our privacy conversations like Wi-Fi password or even disturb our networks and that kind of privacy issues is so dangerous that we have to seriously concern to it.

Price comparing (using online inflation calculator):
In the late 1980’s (I took 1987) one bulb costs for about $5.11
Nowadays, one smart bulb (I took Philips Hue) costs for about $50
